Top 10 Manchester United Players of all Time

Our list of the greatest players ever to grace Old Trafford for Manchester United

10. NEMANJA VIDIC

The bedrock of Manchester United's most successful era, as the inimitable Aditya Rangarajan put it, Paul Scholes went from a youth team player at Uni to become arguably the best English midfielder of his generation - scoring 155 goals in 718 appearances for United along the way.

9. PAUL SCHOLES

Paul Scholes (born 16 November 1974) is an English retired footballer who played his entire professional career for Manchester United. Scholes made 718 appearances for United, the third-highest number of appearances by any player for the club. Scholes announced his retirement from playing on 31 May 2011, receiving a testimonial match, and began his coaching career at the club from the 2011–12 season onward. However, he reversed this decision on 8 January 2012, and went on to play one more season before retiring again in May 2013

8. ROBIN VAN PERSIE

Dutch footballer from Rotterdam born on August 6, 1983. Currently plays for the Turkish club Fenerbahçe S.K and The Netherlands national football team as the number 11. Robin Van Persie is known for playing for Arsenal and Manchester United, though his most notable goal was his header against Spain in a 5-1 victory in the 2014 World Cup for a revenge after losing the final in 2010. Van Persie's accomplishments vary from winning the FA Cup, UEFA Cup, Community Shield, 2010 World Cup Runner Up, 2014 World Cup Third Place and the Dutch team all time scorer.

7. DAVID BECKHAM

David Robert Joseph Beckham, OBE[4] (born 2 May 1975) is an English former professional footballer. Beckham's professional club career began with Manchester United, where he made his first-team debut in 1992 aged 17. With United, he won the Premier League title six times, the FA Cup twice, and the UEFA Champions League in 1999.

6. ERIC CANTONA

His attitude, skill and pure professionalism took United to the next level and played a vital role in breaking a 26-year-old trophy doubt - the only year the Premier League trophy did not find its way to OldTrafford was the one in which he was banned for 8 months for trying to kick the Xenophobia out of a Crystal Palace fan.

5. BOBBY CHARLTON

Sir Robert "Bobby" Charlton is an English former football player, regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time, and an essential member of the England team who won the World Cup in 1966, the year he also won the Ballon d'Or.

4. GEORGE BEST

George Best was a Northern Irish professional footballer who played as a winger for Manchester United and the Northern Ireland national team.

The man who put the 'Devil' in 'Red Devil', George Best was arguably the most skilful player to have graced Old Trafford.

He won the European Cup in one of that famous competition's greatest individual displays against mighty Benfica in the Final, winning redemption for a side, and city, that had suffered immensely in Munich - along with winning the Balon d'Or

3. RYAN GIGGS

Ryan Joseph Giggs is a Welsh football coach and former player who is currently the assistant manager at Manchester United and co-owner of Salford City.

Just look at those numbers up there. 24 years as a midfielder at one of the biggest clubs in the world. 963 appearances - the most of any Manchester United footballer, ever. 13, THIRTEEN, league titles.

Trust Sir Alex Ferguson to describe him best - "I remember the first time I saw him. He was 13 and just floated over the ground like a cocker spaniel chasing a piece of silver paper in the wind."

2. WAYNE ROONEY

Wayne Mark Rooney is an English professional footballer who plays for and captains both Manchester United and the England national team.

The record goalscorer for Manchester United.

That one record alone is enough to guarantee Wayne Rooney's place on this, or any, list of Manchester United greats but add to it the sheer commitment he's shown this club on the football pitch and there really shouldn't be any argument.

1. CRISTIANO RONALDO

Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, GOIH is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays for Spanish club Real Madrid and the Portugal national team.

His star may have risen highest after he left the club, but it would take a short-sighted, mean, man to overlook just how good Cristiano Ronaldo was during his brief, but oh! so sweet, peak at Old Trafford.

He is, after all, one of only four players to have won the Balon d'Or whilst playing for Manchester United.
